Hanwha officially announced on Monday that it has hired former NC Dinos coach Kim Min-ho as its batting coach for the first division. Born in 1961, Kim Min-ho graduated from Busan High School and Dongguk University and made his professional debut as a first-round pick by the Lotte Giants in 1984. He played in 1,208 games in the first division, posting a batting average of 278 (1,050 hits in 3,778 times at bat), 106 homers, 606 RBIs, 488 runs and 64 steals.
Coach Kim Min-ho contributed significantly to Lotte's second victory in the Korean Series in 1992 by posting a batting average of 322 (or 133 hits in 413 times at bat) with 16 homers, 88 RBIs, 69 runs and five steals. After retiring from active duty, he coached Lotte and NC and has extensive experience as an amateur leader. He served as coach of Dongui University and Busan High School, and also as a hitting coach at Mokpo National University of Science. Analysts say that he has a wide range of views in baseball, where he is serving as a commentator on the PSB (currently KNN) radio.
Hanwha said, "Coach Kim Min-ho is expected to improve the batting ability of the players based on his know-how accumulated over many years of coaching experience."
